Our Origin Story: How I Got To Where I Am Today

I’ve always been fascinated by entrepreneurs because they never take a traditional path, much like myself. After graduating high school, I spent a couple of years trying out different universities, but the truth is, none seemed to quite fit.

In my second year of college, I was at Temple University pursuing a career in communications when I started working at the very radio station I grew up listening to. I fell in love with the work almost immediately, so it didn’t take long for me to make a life-altering decision. Instead of continuing my degree, I decided to leave school and fully commit to working there full-time. As it turned out, I was working at one of the top five market radio stations in the United States.

During my time at the station, I had the opportunity to gain exposure to things that most people wouldn't see until after they finished college. I learned all about marketing, being on air, how to make commercials, handling public affairs events, talking to professionals in the music and journalism industries, and so much more.

Remarkably, by the time I was 21, I held the position of Creative Services Director at Clear Channel. In this role, I managed accounts for a number of different radio stations, further broadening my skill set. This invaluable experience paved the way for a thriving career in voiceover work, spanning multiple different roles, including a successful show in Washington DC that ran for several years.

As a result, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, but after spending a number of years there and making my first six figures, I realized that there was something that would be even more fulfilling: Paving my own path forward and earning my income on my own terms. Because of this, I established my business in 2009 and I’ve continued to operate it successfully for over 15 years.

As I transitioned into consulting, I found that the most rewarding part of being a business owner is the ability to share all of the valuable lessons I’ve learned from overcoming my own challenges over the years. Anything that could have possibly happened to a small business has happened to our small business, from managing four locations to navigating licensing and franchising. We even ventured into consumer packaged goods, forming contracts with major brands like Whole Foods.

Throughout the years, we’ve celebrated many successes and encountered challenges that nearly destroyed us. Today, I marvel at the fact that so many business owners face these things without any support or advice. That’s what led me to become a business advisor – first for the Small Business Development Center, and now independently for my own clients.

In this role, I’m proud to be able to use my experiences to provide innovators like you with personalized attention, craft strategies tailored to your unique needs, and coach you through any obstacles that you may encounter on your own path to success.
